Absurd Tuna

The Absurdities of My Life… And Tuna.

So, it’s been a while

Hello!

My, it has a been a few months since the last post.  I’ll do as much updating as possible since my last post.

May:
-Went to MTAC. Survived though the Nashville Floods that weekend and was forced to stay in Nashville an extra day waiting for the floors to recede.
-Got back to campus right before the due date of some of our finals.
-Moved off campus for the summer and back to Nashville, got a summer job as a waitress.

June:
-Worked mainly, lol.
-Worked on my tan whenever I could. B]

July:
-Celebrated the 4th of July with my family
-Worked more
-Got a ballin’ 32-inch TV for my dorm room. :D

That’s really that’s happened this summer. :/ Family pictures are next week and family vacation is the beginning of next month. I’m getting a new laptop then as well. I might be going to Dragoncon. I move back to campus in mid-August. There’s just been nothing of interest to really blog about lately.

:/ Well, until things pick up….

Just an update

Sorry that it’s been like a month since I’ve last updated for anyone who keeps up. I’ve been, sadly, really busy. Work has been more time-consuming than I originally thought it was. Oh, well. Money is a really nice thing to have.

So, MTAC is a definite thing. Going with my buddy Hannah this weekend. We’re getting a hotel and touring Nashville and going to the con on Saturday. It should be fun. I’ll post some pictures  from the trip whenever I get a chance.

I’ve been so stressed out lately. I’ve had to finish three papers, do a lot of final work, and write a short story for a class. I’m finished with all of it besides one paper that I need to make additions to and the short story. I just can’t wait for the year to be over with so I can go home and have a break.

So, I think I’m going to start living under the feeling of “when it rains, it pours”.  This is definitely the most work that I’ve had in my whole college career at the end of a semester. It’s crazy. I’ve also had a few tastes of drama with friends that I won’t go into, but I’ve been dealing with. On top of that, I’m still working part-time at the Smoothie place. The worst part? Work feels like more an escape from the bull crap than anything else.

Anyway, I’ll stop complaining for the moment. I’ll restart my blogroll once the summer starts and I have a chance to take a breath.

Blast From the Past

Posted by Jessica on March 21, 2010 at 6:54 pm in Ramblings

So, last night I was hanging out with my friends and we talked about all the old animes and TV shows we used to watch when we were little and I realized that I really love the hell out of the first two seasons of Digimon. I mean, it has it’s own special place in my heart and I am totally obsessed with it. All I need to do is actually buy the seasons and own them.

Subjects covered included: Pokemon (Which I only watched to the Johto episodes), Digimon (first two seasons = best two seasons), Monster Rancher (Didnt really watch too much of this one), W.I.T.C.H. (I need to rewatch it! It’s super cute!), Yu-Gi-Oh!, Totally Spies!, and Gundam Wing. It was a really fun night! <3

Anyway, I should robably end my post here and go work on my English paper that I really don’t want too.

What shows did you watch growing up and do any of them have special places in your heart?

Spring Break

Posted by Jessica on March 7, 2010 at 9:08 am in Ramblings, life

Hello!

This week is my Spring Break and I’m back home. I’m over my sick and I feel a lot better. :)

It’s so refreshing to be back home, it’s been over a month since I’ve been here because of work and the like. I’ve just been so busy lately, it’s crazy.

Anyway, so today I saw Alice in Wonderland. I thought that it was interesting. :)

Oh yes! I finally realized that one of my favorite things to do is to support local artists whenever I find one that I really like and today I have found a woman by the name of Jamie Liana. She is an amazing New Aged artist centered in Nashville, TN. Clicking her names leads you to her Myspace page where you can listen to her music. She is also available on iTunes and Amazon.com.

I had another local artist that I had learned about in Knoxville, but I’m not sure how to link to them. :( It appears that they’ve either disbanded or who knows what. This is is the only let down about local artists is when they fade into oblivion and you can’t find them anymore.

Anyway, that’s all for now. :)

Charlatan Illusionists and Teacher Meetings

Posted by Jessica on January 25, 2010 at 11:11 pm in Ramblings, classes, fun

Just another life update since the last time I posted.

Nothing much is going on here lately and I honestly can’t think of anything interesting to post about. I’ve done nothing much besides hang out with my friends when I haven’t been in class. I also have been working on reworking one of my short stories for my English 464 class.

Last friday I went to what I thought was going to be an illusionist show only to learn that it was a Christian message in disguise. Brock Gill came to campus to do a show and since I like things like David Blaine and Criss Angel, I decided to go.

The thing that bothers me the most was simply the fac t that I felt like I paid $5 just to see him stand up on stage and play with cards and try to fool us. I know enough about magic that I was able to pick out his distractions when they happened. Anyway, before the intermission, he told us that he wanted to talk about his life and that if we “did want to hear it, we could just leave”. Well, I paid to get into this show, I was going to see what he wanted say.

What did he want to say? He wanted us to find Jesus. I suppose it was a nice message to spread along. I’m a Catholic, I don’t mind people talking about Jesus. My problem was that I didn’t know it was going to be a Christian-y message until I had seen flip a few cards around for an hour. I didn’t think I was going to get a message about religion while I was supposed to enjoy myself seeing some illusions.

And the even sketchier part was simply the way he talked to us about the disater in Haiti. He asked for donations for his mission trip and to send supplies down there. He claimed all the supplies that were beign sent to Haiti were being bottlenecked by customs and they weren’t getting through. He claimed that the company he worked with found this super secret way into Haiti through the Dominican Republic and that we should give to him because it was sure to get to the people there. ….It sounded too sketchy for me.

I left the performance kinda disappointed. It was okay, because I went back with my friends and watched Sergeant Frog until one in the morning.

Well, that’s all for the moment. I need to do more and update more often. I want to make this interesting for all my readers! Lol, that means I need a more interesting life.

I talked to my creative writing teacher and I told her one of my book ideas and she actually told me that I should write it. What does that mean? It means that I’m going to start writing my book. I am going to fix what I have so far and make it presentable for my second short story. I’m super excited! It’s currently 30 pages, and I plan for it to be at least 120 pages by the time the first draft is done and longer after I edit more. That’s the plan. Will I still with it? Who knows. I just know that I want to write it. I wanna get it out of my head.

Well, that’s all for now! I’ll talk to you later!
