The Absurdities of My Life… And Tuna.

Happy Birthday Me!

Posted by Jessica on November 29, 2009 at 11:40 pm in life

Hello! Today I turned twenty-one today! Yay!

But! Before I get into how excited I am to be one year older and one year wiser, I have to tell you about yesterday!

So! Yesterday my parents decided to celebrate my birthday since I had to come back to campus today. They got my a cake, a little portable laptop (which I failed to take a picture of, but it look similar to this one), and a hundred dollars!

Here is what my cake looked like before my family dug in:

It was so delicious! Now it looks nothing like this, lol. I brought the rest of it with me back to campus so I can share it with my friends on my actual birthday. :)

We also put up the Christmas Tree and decorated the house yesterday. The tree was a bit of a problem since part of the stand was missing. We ended up having to rig it up for the moment. Look like we’ll have to get a new tree next year, but this one is fine for now.

These were the only pictures I took sadly, but you can look at the tree and see that it’s leaning a bit… and the angel on the top is bumping her head on the roof. Poor thing.

Oh yeah! And if you were curious, here is a picture of the damage done to my car:

See? The mirror was taken clean off! >=U

Anyway, today I got back to campus and decided that I really wanted to buy my first legal drink, so I went with a friend to Applebee’s. I was supposed to go out with Daniella, but she’s feeling under the weather, so we’re doing something tomorrow!

Anyway, my friend Hannah and I went to Applebee’s and I bought a Pomegranate Martini! I almost forgot to take a picture of it!

Almost gone, but I did take a picture of it! If you look closely, you can see the hundred dollar bill my dad gave me for my birthday.

It was a really good break! I was really busy due to Thanksgiving, but other than that, it was awesome! I’m so ready for Christmas break!

I also finished the book I was reading and started the next one, Narcissus in Chains

If you put up a tree, when does it go up?
How old will you be on your next birthday? Good or Bad Thing?
If you’re old enough to drink or do imbibe from time to time, what’s your favorite drink?

Thanksgiving Time

A lot of blogs are probably talking about Thanksgiving, and I will follow the crowd. :)

So! I’m home. The last few days have been more than fun, yesterday especially. Daniella, my friend Jessica, and I all went to Chili’s for dinner. Afterwards, we returned to my dorm room and watched the first DVD of Gundam Wing. Daniella left after that and Jessica and I continued our anime time block with the first DVD of Trinity Blood. We paused after that and just talked about our various projects that we’re doing and RPs that we’re working on and such.

We pretty much did only that until my roommate got off work around 3am, then we called it a night and went to bed. The next morning we woke up, did lunch and I hopped my car for the three-hour drive for Nashville.

I first stopped by my parents’ house to pick up the iPod I ordered. It’s a Classic, fifth generation. I still have the one that Daniella gave me back in September, but it’s going to a new home with my father as a Christmas present. I will miss what I lovingly called the ‘Dino-Pod’ and I do appreciate that Daniella gave it to me.  <3

Oh! I have another story to tell everyone! So, before we went to Chili’s yesterday, I had to go to my car, of course. Well, when I arrived, I saw that my car had been vandalized! The left sideview mirror had been completely knocked off! Not only that, the wires had been severed and the mirror was completely missing! So that three hour drive was kind of scary today. :(

Well, I wish you all a good Thanksgiving!

What are you Holiday traditions?
Is there anything you’re upset about?

What’s going on in your life that you want to mention? I’m all ears!

Edward Stared Down at Me from the Roof

Posted by Jessica on November 21, 2009 at 9:10 pm in School, life

So! It’s been a few days and a lot of interesting things have happened lately!

Last weekend, I went to the bathroom at around 1:30 am. I was about to settle down for the night. I entered the stall and saw this:

What would you think if you saw that? Personally, the thoughts that went through my mind were “Pfft, there isn’t anything up there.”

…I was wrong. I looked up and this is what I saw taped to the roof:

….I won’t lie, it scared the crap out of me. I jumped and ran out of the stall. I went to my friends’ rooms and told them. I amassed a group of people for a return expedition to the bathroom. And upon closer investigation, it wasn’t just my stall that had Edward’s intense gaze staring down at them, every stall at the same thing and so did the elevators.

It was very interesting, lol! I got a good scare and a really good laugh out of it.

Not much else has been going on in my life lately. I did a video for some energy conservation site that I will link to as soon as get the word back that it’s been put up.

I also got the swine flu vaccine. My campus was giving them out for free, so I figured ‘Why not?’.

I’ve been fighting the fight against getting sick as well. It seems that everyone around me is getting sick and I really don’t want to be ill around my birthday and before finals. ;-;

This weekend is devoted to finishing my history paper. It’s coming along nicely. It has to be 4-6 pages, and I have two at the moment. I’ll finish it today sometime..

During my free time this week, I’ve gone back to reading the Anita Blake series. I’ve gotten Daniella into reading it as well. She just started the first book (Guilty Pleasures) and I’m currently reading Obsidian Butterfly, the ninth book. I have a love/hate relationship with these books. I love them and miss them when I’m not reading them, but the main character is so hard-headed and gets herself into so many situations because of it. *sigh*

Oh! Last night with a few friends, I started a Hetalia RPG. For those who don’t know what Hetalia here, a basic overview can be seen here. If anyone is interested in joining, the site Livejournal site is here. I play France and Northern Italy. It’s great fun!

Until next time!

On the Right Path

So, after talking to the wonderful people at the Education College, I know what I have left to graduate. To get my B.A. in English, I need 12 more classes after next semester. To get into teaching program, I need to get my G.P.A. up a bit and take 5 classes for the minor. It’s all really exciting!

I also learned that it’s going to be a teensy bit difficult to get into the teaching program at my university because so many English Majors try to get into. Between 50-60% get in each year. Hopefully I’ll be able to get in. If not, I’ll get my B.A. and apply to other schools, probably ones closer to home.

For all of those who keep up with Daniella’s blog, you know it was her boyfriend’s birthday Monday. We went to panera for a dinner, it was pretty nice. We also went out Friday afternoon and got him a cake with the birthday candles that don’t blow out that he had been wanting. It was a pretty fun night.

During that night, Daniella and I were with a friend of her’s named Jennifer. We hung out for a while and went to Chili’s, Kohl’s, and Barnes and Noble. I talked to them about my writing projects and they helped me breath new life in a project I had previously put on the back burner because I felt like the idea couldn’t be salvaged. I was apparnetly wrong.

But, as much as I want to write on it this week, I can’t. I have a history paper due next Monday (11/22) and I have to do my best on this paper. I need to get my G.P.A. back up so I can get into the teaching program, so I really need to buckle down.

Anyway, that’s all for now. =) I’ll keep you guys posted!

“I Threw It On the GROUND!”

\”Andy Samberg Threw It On the Ground\”

I am utterly in love with Andy Samberg. He’s best known as a Saturday Nigh Live cast member. You might know him as that guy from the group (The Lonely Island) that sings “Jizz in My Pants” or “I’m On a Boat”. You might even know him from when he hosted the MTV Movie Awards this year.

But however you know him, I think he’s hilarious! He does a lot of funny songs for SNL and I don’t think there’s been on that I haven’t enjoyed yet. I think he’ simply great.

And now, away from what I think is hilarious. Here is my tentative  schedule for next semester for those interested!

English 254 ; I call it my ‘Twilight Class’, but it’s a literature class focused on Vampires from Dracula to Twilight. I’ve met and talked to the Professor already and she seems to be a joy and I’m excited for the choices that she’s picked. Dracula, Buffy, Sookie Stackhouse novels, Anita Blake series, etc.  And as for my stance on Twilight? …I’m not the biggest fan. I’ve read the series, but.. Twilight will be reserved for another topic.

Educational Psychology 210: My first step toward becoming a High school teacher! :)

Anthropology 110: A gen. ed. class. Human Origins. Lol, so much fun.

Math 125: A calculus class. ….Ehn, I wish I didn’t have to take the class. I hate Calculus. Alegebra and Geometry? I can do it, but not this Quantatative Reasoning shiz. Ugh, Gen Ed.

Sociology 120: General Sociology. Look interesting, but if I need to drop a class, this is the one that’s going.

And as for my Wait-listed class:

English 464: The last level of Creative Writing. I love taking these classes. It breaks me away from what I normally write.

What else is there to mention? Oh yeah! I saw Cirque du Freak. I read the book series in High school so I figured I had to see the movie when it came to the big screen!

All in all, I liked the movie. Sure, it was very different from the books, but I didn’t mind that. They did it well and there is definitely going to be a sequel to patch up the loose ends. It kinda sucks that it did so badly at the box office though. I hope the sequel is made, lol.

Well, that’s all for now! I post again soon!
