Absurd Tuna

The Absurdities of My Life… And Tuna.

Sickly

So, I woke up Saturday with a sore throat. I didn’t sleep well the night before because I kept waking up to coughing fits and the like. So, all day Saturday, I was kind of tired and coughing. The sore throat went away with a nice peppermint.

Sunday was more of the same. I woke up with another sore throat (I guess I was sleeping with my mouth open). Another peppermint and it was gone. It was also another night of bad sleep and I was starting to get testy when it came to talking to people. I was starting to get apathetic.

Monday, I woke up without a sore throat, but I was still coughing and feeling generally miserable. By the end of the night, I felt like I was going to start crying. I took some Nyquil and went to sleep.

This morning, I woke up after not getting enough sleep enough I definitely laid down for seven hours. I called the campus clinic and they got me in super early. So, I went and they told me that I have bronchitis and I might have pneumonia, so I got a chest x-ray to see if that were the case. The doctor said he wasn’t sure and said that I needed a blood test to test for something else that turned out to be negative. He gave me a breathing test and for someone who doesn’t have asthma, I was breathing like an asthmatic. It was kinda worrisome.

He put me on some steroids and antibotics and I’m feeling better, but I’m not really breathing better. I’m kinda worried.

Anywho~! Away from that, I’ve just been kinda blah about school lately. There’s a lot going on for me and I’m not falling behind or anything. I feel pretty good about everything, I think I’m just started to get burned out on this semester. I need some time at home. I haven’t been able to go home as much since I got my job. I miss my family a lot, but I go home for springbreak next Friday, so I’m really happy about that

Well, that’s all for now!

What’s going on with you?

Babysitting and Baby-colds

Posted by Jessica on December 24, 2009 at 3:34 am in Writings, life

So, on Monday I did my mother a favor and took over her day babysitting her niece (My cousin Crystal)’s kids. Crystal has two little ones, a nine year old boy and a four year old girl. It wasn’t so bad, they were really good. Besides being a over-excited about playing video games, they were awesome. There was even a third kid who was another cousin that was staying over that was good as gold, so I was watching three kids from about 2-6pm, which was perfectly fine with me.

Well, the four-year old that I was watching had a bad cough. I didn’t think too much of it and told her to cover her mouth when she coughed and kept hand sanitizer handy. Well, I ended up getting sick yesterday. I stayed all day in bed and hoped that it wouldn’t get worse than a fever and congestion.  And luckily, when I woke up this morning, I felt much better!

Lol, onto other subjects! I’ve been doing a bunch of nothing still. It’s driving me insane. Whenever I’m on campus, I always feel busy or have somewhere to go, even if it’s just a walk. But at home, it’s home or going out, but what is there really to do when you’re sorta broke? Lol, campus and classes are starting to look more and more exciting.

On Sunday, I’m heading down to Chattanooga to visit with my friends. It should be a fun few days. I’ve been to Alana’s house a few times and this’ll be the first time I’ve gone to my friend Jessica’s. I’m excited!

So, now onto the subject of Christmas, which I’m fairly certain a lot of people are thinking about.  I’ve started cooking already with my grandmother. Yeah, I think two days in advance is a bit much, but my mom can’t make cornbread for nothing and we need it for Christmas and if my grandma feels like doing it today, I guess we are.

I hope that Christmas goes smoothly. I really like nice quiet holidays. The craziness is fun for a bit, but I just like to relax… that and open presents. Yay, presents!

I also started yet another short story. This time it’s from the point of view of a woman! Le gasp! Hopefully it’ll turn into something interesting and if it does, you can be certain that it’ll appear on my Works page. :)

I can’t think of much else to say for the moment, so I’ll end this entry here. I’ll update again on Christmas!

At Home

Posted by Jessica on October 16, 2009 at 4:29 am in life

Hello all!

So! The subject of this message is just simplyabout being back home.

I got home at about 6 p.m. last night and pulled up to my parents house. I ended up making my parents and myself a delicious dinner of steak and potatoes. I enjoyed it, they enjoyed it, it was great.

After that, I came over to my Grandmother’s house where my Aunt, sister, and our friend Megan all live. We went out for a while and I did laundry and I more or less played videogames until I fell asleep.

Today I woke up, went to my parents house, then to the hospital. I had blood work done, x-rays, and I saw an orthopedic surgeon. Turns out that my knee is just bruised. It means that it’ll probably hurt for about a month. Load of fun, huh?

Anyway, I more or less just came back to my Grandma’s house afterward. I’m spending the day and night tomorrow at my parents’ house.

I’m just happy to be home.  I love living up on campus and feeling independent, but I really miss my family. They are really amazing even though we argue from time to time. I’m so glad that I’m having this four-day weekend with them.

It’s good to be home.

Until next time. =)

Fall Break

Posted by Jessica on October 14, 2009 at 4:41 am in School, life

Well, this week is our Fall Break. The good people at the University decide that it’s a good idea to give us a four day weekend. Not that I’m complaining, certainly not! Bring it on!

Anyway, in other news, I’m not on crutches anymore. I learned today from a Physical Therapist that my left knee is pretty out of place. Like the knee cap is a good half inch from where it should be. Fun! She taped it into place, but I had to take the tape off because it just hurt too much.

But! To other things!

I’m starting my short story for my English clas.. Well, restarting. I had one story idea that didn’t pan out, so now I’m attempting something else.

That’s all for the moment. I’ll post once I make it home tomorrow.

Meet Spami

Posted by Jessica on October 12, 2009 at 9:58 am in life

Hello everyone!

My name is Jessica, but I go by the name Spami/Spamilla due to the fact that Jessica is such a painfully common name (I bet you can think of five Jessicas off the top of your head. I know I can).

So, a few things about me: I’m twenty years old, I’m  a psychology major, I’ve taken two years of Japanese, I’m an anime fan, I’m a Harry Potter fanatic, and I listen to a lot of Alternative Rock. I think World History, when read for pleasure, is one of the most interesting things. I don’t like taking history as a class. It bores me to tears. I live in a dormitory on campus as well.

My current classes are:

Classics 221 (Intro to Classics)
History 262 (World History 1500-Current)
Psychology 360 (Social Psychology)
English 364 (Fiction Writing)

It’s a pretty simple schedule, but for the rest of my time, I must hunker down and pull my weight!

Oh! Another thing, I particularly love to write. I don’t think I’m that great and I’ll post bits and pieces from time to time for your viewing pleasure!

So, now to how my actual day was. Well, last Wednesday, I was being particularly childish (as I often am) and managed to get my hands on a condom from my R.A. Well, it struck me as a brilliant idea to make it a water balloon. After swinging it around for a moment, I threw it at the ground in hopes of popping it… Well, it didn’t pop. Instead, the balloon, water-filled phallus just lie ever so gently on the grass. To my horror, I ran over to reclaim the condom-water balloon when I tripped and fell.

Long story short, I sprain my right knee and impacted my left knee into the cement. After going to a regular doctor and a sports medicine doctor, I’ve learned that I’ve jacked up my knee. It’s not aligned and there is scar tissue and such.

I begin physical therapy tomorrow and I’m stuck on crutches. Sad day.

So, to anyone who wishes to reply, want to mention a particularly bothersome injury you’ve received while doing something childish?

Oh! I’m currently hard at work trying to personalize my site! I have a few ideas, so let’s hope that they work out!
