Absurd Tuna

The Absurdities of My Life… And Tuna.

Just an update

Sorry that it’s been like a month since I’ve last updated for anyone who keeps up. I’ve been, sadly, really busy. Work has been more time-consuming than I originally thought it was. Oh, well. Money is a really nice thing to have.

So, MTAC is a definite thing. Going with my buddy Hannah this weekend. We’re getting a hotel and touring Nashville and going to the con on Saturday. It should be fun. I’ll post some pictures  from the trip whenever I get a chance.

I’ve been so stressed out lately. I’ve had to finish three papers, do a lot of final work, and write a short story for a class. I’m finished with all of it besides one paper that I need to make additions to and the short story. I just can’t wait for the year to be over with so I can go home and have a break.

So, I think I’m going to start living under the feeling of “when it rains, it pours”.  This is definitely the most work that I’ve had in my whole college career at the end of a semester. It’s crazy. I’ve also had a few tastes of drama with friends that I won’t go into, but I’ve been dealing with. On top of that, I’m still working part-time at the Smoothie place. The worst part? Work feels like more an escape from the bull crap than anything else.

Anyway, I’ll stop complaining for the moment. I’ll restart my blogroll once the summer starts and I have a chance to take a breath.

Crazy Busy and Happy Easter!

Yes, I’ve been crazy busy for the last few weeks. I’ve had two papers and a short story to write along with all the homework that I’ve been given by my other classes. It’s been hard to think of things to write for this place because although I haven’t been bored, nothing too interesting has happened. Just work and chilling out with friends.

I finished the short story and the unrevised version can be found here. Warning, there is harsh language and sexual situations.

Besides that, I have plans to go to MTAC this year. I’m going to have to be very good about my paychecks for the next few weeks. Luckily, my parents live just down the street from the con, so I can go home and eat, but I’m still shacking up in a hotel with whoever is going with us.

What else is there to mention? Oh! I’ve been looking at Grad school with MFA programs for Creative Writing. I’m seriously thinking about getting a Master’s, if not a Doctorate in Creative writing. I still want to become a teacher, but I want this dream too. I feel like it’s all attainable.

Well, that’s all for now. Happy Easter!

Blast From the Past

Posted by Jessica on March 21, 2010 at 6:54 pm in Ramblings

So, last night I was hanging out with my friends and we talked about all the old animes and TV shows we used to watch when we were little and I realized that I really love the hell out of the first two seasons of Digimon. I mean, it has it’s own special place in my heart and I am totally obsessed with it. All I need to do is actually buy the seasons and own them.

Subjects covered included: Pokemon (Which I only watched to the Johto episodes), Digimon (first two seasons = best two seasons), Monster Rancher (Didnt really watch too much of this one), W.I.T.C.H. (I need to rewatch it! It’s super cute!), Yu-Gi-Oh!, Totally Spies!, and Gundam Wing. It was a really fun night! <3

Anyway, I should robably end my post here and go work on my English paper that I really don’t want too.

What shows did you watch growing up and do any of them have special places in your heart?

Sickly

So, I woke up Saturday with a sore throat. I didn’t sleep well the night before because I kept waking up to coughing fits and the like. So, all day Saturday, I was kind of tired and coughing. The sore throat went away with a nice peppermint.

Sunday was more of the same. I woke up with another sore throat (I guess I was sleeping with my mouth open). Another peppermint and it was gone. It was also another night of bad sleep and I was starting to get testy when it came to talking to people. I was starting to get apathetic.

Monday, I woke up without a sore throat, but I was still coughing and feeling generally miserable. By the end of the night, I felt like I was going to start crying. I took some Nyquil and went to sleep.

This morning, I woke up after not getting enough sleep enough I definitely laid down for seven hours. I called the campus clinic and they got me in super early. So, I went and they told me that I have bronchitis and I might have pneumonia, so I got a chest x-ray to see if that were the case. The doctor said he wasn’t sure and said that I needed a blood test to test for something else that turned out to be negative. He gave me a breathing test and for someone who doesn’t have asthma, I was breathing like an asthmatic. It was kinda worrisome.

He put me on some steroids and antibotics and I’m feeling better, but I’m not really breathing better. I’m kinda worried.

Anywho~! Away from that, I’ve just been kinda blah about school lately. There’s a lot going on for me and I’m not falling behind or anything. I feel pretty good about everything, I think I’m just started to get burned out on this semester. I need some time at home. I haven’t been able to go home as much since I got my job. I miss my family a lot, but I go home for springbreak next Friday, so I’m really happy about that

Well, that’s all for now!

What’s going on with you?

After the First Day of Classes

Posted by Jessica on January 15, 2010 at 4:25 am in School, classes

Well, tomorrow marks the third day of the semester. I’ve been to all of my classes and finalized my schedule. :)

Monday, Wednesday, Fridays:

English 254: Themes in Lit, Vampires from Dracula to Twilight
This class is really awesome. We’re going to be reading  Dracula, Carmilla, The Vampyre, The first novels in the Anita Blakes series, Sookie Stackhouse novels, Vampire Huntress Legend novels, and the Twilight Series. We also look as Vampire poems such as “Christabel“. All of these sources are to show us how the Vampire legend has evovled through time.

Education Psychology
This is the first class I take on my route to becoming a teacher. The class seems ridiculous complicated with it’s grading, but it might justbe because I’m not used to it yet. I have this class with Daniella.

Mathimatical Reasoning
Ehn, one of the two math classes I’m required to take for my math requirement. It seems kind of fun so far and the teacher seems really nice, I just hope that I can do well in the class.

Tuesday and Thursdays

Anthropology 110
Another gen ed. class. It seems pretty interesting and the Professor seems like a nice guy.

Creative Writing 464
The last level of creative writing. I’m still feeling this class out. I like how the class is set up, but I’m not sure how I feel about the professor at the moment. She seems kind of uncaring. I have a story idea in mind and I really hope it pans out. I’m going to start writing on it soon.

And now, away from classes…. which there isn’t much to talk about outside of classes at the moment. I bought a GPS for my car, and I’ve bought some school books. *shrug* Nothing in particular.

I’ve also been putting together song lists for differnet things. I’ve made them for particular stories I’ve read, particular things I write for, etc. Just different things. It’s really fun to do. :)

Well, that’s all for now. I’ve been super tired since classes started and I honestly cannot think of a way to make this blog anymore interesting than it is at the moment.

Until next time!

Random Question: Can you recommend me your favorite song at the moment?
